
Imagine Lawyers invites you: a meeting with speaker Margarita Karpenko at KAI
On Monday, 24 November 2025, students of the Faculty of Law and International Relations of the State University “Kyiv Aviation Institute” (KAI) will have the opportunity to meet a distinguished guest – Margarita Karpenko, Partner at Imagine Lawyers and an attorney with more than 30 years of experience in employment, corporate law, and M&A.
The discussion will focus on how to build a successful legal career and understand employment law in practice. Margarita will share her professional journey as well as her extensive social and educational engagement. In particular, she:
- led legal practices at the business consulting firms Andersen and Ernst & Young;
- served as Managing Partner of the Kyiv office of DLA Piper;
- was recognized as the Best Managing Partner of a Law Firm in Ukraine (2009);
- is ranked as a leading lawyer in employment law by Legal 500 EMEA and in corporate law and M&A by IFLR1000 and Chambers;
- has been admitted to the Ukrainian Bar since 2000.
Throughout her career, Margarita has been actively involved in social and educational initiatives:
- DLA Piper CSR projects: for nearly a decade she led the firm’s scholarship program, which enabled top students from Ukrainian law schools to complete internships in DLA Piper offices worldwide.
- USUBC: served as a member of the Executive Committee of the Ukraine–US Business Council.
- East Europe Foundation: served on the Foundation’s Board from 2014 to 2017.
- See Forward Ukraine: in 2024 she acted as a mentor and speaker for a leadership course for young Ukrainian women, discussing the legal profession, its challenges, and opportunities.
- CEE Deal of the Year Awards: invited as a jury member of one of the most prestigious awards for legal support of transactions in Central and Eastern Europe.
- Women on Boards Ukraine: actively participates in the organization’s events and working groups, contributing to the advancement of corporate governance and women’s leadership.
