Olga Romanenko has a strong Intellectual Property background developed over the past 20 years. Before joining us, Olga worked for one of the largest international law firms and the big-4 firm where she advised clients across many industries on a range of IP and data protection issues.
Olga concentrates her practice on complex commercial arrangements involving intellectual property, including rights acquisitions, licensing, technology development, outsourcing agreements and a range of other commercial contracts. Although her current focus is transactional arrangements, Olga has a strong experience in intellectual property filing in all phases – from preparing new applications to completing the appeals process. She has a significant experience with preparation of patentability and freedom-to-operate opinions. Olga also supports our M&A, Technology and Commercial Transactions teams in transactions and IP due diligence.
In addition to her IP expertise, Olga deals with matters where technology meets privacy. Her expertise covers local and cross-border data privacy issues, information and consent policies, and implementing GDPR compliance requirements. Olga holds EU GDPR Practitioner certificate (No.984163).
Beyond legal practice, she served as IT Committee chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine. Moreover, during 2017-2019 Olga actively cooperated with a number of Ukrainian state bodies in the development of new draft laws adjusting the existing Ukrainian laws on data protection to the EU requirements. Olga also coordinated the project aimed to support the Government of Ukraine in reforming its approach to funding innovation. From her many years of experience as legal consultant, Olga also brought a valuable contribution to the Master¢s Program in Digital Transformation and Business Analytics organized by Kyiv School of Economics where she presented her course as guest lecturer.
